Good Sunday morning to you all...

We had a bit of a reprieve in the heat yesterday & it was wonderful.  Hubby usually breaks up the lawn mowing in sections but not yesterday.  He did the whole thing & was a bit "over tired", as my Mom used to say, but knew the heat was returning today so he wanted to get it done.  It's hotter right now (85*F), at 9am, than it was all day yesterday so I'm glad he managed to get the chore done.

I got some very disturbing news that has made my heart heavy ever since.  A friend since childhood lost her youngest daughter to suicide last week.  Lucy was only 39 years old, with a 12 year old autistic daughter & a just-turned-19 year old son in college.  She was divorced but Lucy & her husband "made it work" regarding the children.  No one is sure exactly what happened yet & family is devastated, of course.  Being an OB nurse, I was present in the labor & delivery rooms when both my friend's daughters were born. Our kids are close in age so they always played together growing up.  My heart is broken for her & everyone who loved Lucy.  In your kindness, if you can, please keep them in your thoughts & prayers.

I painted a little pattern called "Uncle Sam Fireworks Basket" by Renee Mullins for July 4th.  He's a happy little guy standing 15 inches tall, with many pieces so he looks 3-D ish.  I used a bit of artistic license & switched up the colors of the flowers, different from Renee's pattern.  He brings a whole lot of cheer to my world right now.  I hope this picture makes you smile too.

Try to keep cool, if it's hot where you are, and have a peace-filled Sunday.

Love & gentle hugs, Andrea xoxo

  4. So very sorry to hear about Lucy. I can not grasp the amount of pain someone must be in to be driven to the point of taking their own life.
    Your Uncle Sam is adorable.

    1. Thank you so much, Ann, and I can't grasp it either. So much pain that she felt she *must* escape, at all cost. Naturally, her children & family are taking it personal, like "How could she leave us?!" but I've heard suicide is everything BUT "personal". xoxo

  5. I'm so sorry for your friend's loss. It's terrible when a loved one decides life is not worth living anymore. I'm sure it's hard not to take it personally. I can't imagine. Your little Uncle Sam is so cute. I haven't put out anything for the 4th of July this year. We have our flag that flies every day so I guess that's good enough! XO
