I always like to send a photo of some sort, of our wildlife, in our Christmas card each year. This photo was included in the card last year.

It was taken after a snowstorm where we got a total of 30" of snow in a 24 hr. period.  Hubby took the yardstick outside at 10am to measure the snowfall & it was up to 17" at that time.

Everything in town was closed & the exit, off the highway, to our town said our town was CLOSED.  We live out in the county so naturally our roads were impassable but even the city streets were snowed over.  The plows couldn't get out until the snowing stopped & ambulances, firetrucks, & police were helpless to try and come to folks' aid.  Here in northernmost Indiana we're used to snow but this was a bit extreme.

It didn't take too long though & within 24 hours after the snow stopped, we were up & moving again.  Hubby & I had shoveled areas in the immediate backyard for the wildlife to eat the seed I scattered around & that's when the deer picture was taken.

This photo was included in the card the year before.  There were 16 baby raccoons in this photo.  We had a bumper crop the summer of 2023.  *ha-ha*

Hurray for summertime!

  1. Love that beautiful deer picture! You guys got a lot more snow that we did this winter. I don't think we got more than a few inches at a time! Look at all those baby racoons! Adorable! XO

    1. Thank you Jeanette. Even the town 12 miles over didn't get the 30" of snow that time. It's funny how snow can hit one place & not another place close by. Same as tornadoes. xoxo

  4. What a fun thing to do with the pictures in the Christmas cards. It's the same way with snow around here. We're used to a lot of it so it never keeps us down for long

    1. I wait until Walgreens has a 50% off sale on the printing of pictures & that's when I get my pictures for the Christmas cards. I don't send many anymore....about 30 or so....so it's never expensive to include a picture with the card. I'm so glad you're on my Christmas card list!! xoxo
