Happy 4th of July to all who are in the United States and celebrate this holiday.

Doing anything special today?  My family & I will gather today for snacks, pizza & games.  It's an impromptu gathering, brought together at the last minute. Youngest daughter asked if we were "doing anything" for July 4th and I told her not that I know of but that I was always open to the idea.  Then oldest daughter asked earlier this week is we were doing anything so....that's the anatomy of a party.  *haha*  If my children want to come home for a gathering, you never have to ask me twice.

So I swiffered the furniture yesterday.  Hubby ran the vacuum just on the linoleum floors and brought up the extra table, to extend our kitchen table since there will be 11 of us, and that's that.  Oldest said she'd stop for a few fireworks on their way here from Michigan.

I whipped up some Firecracker Chex Mix yesterday, as the gang seems to like that, although I didn't make it quite as spicy as the recipe called for.  Today I'll make some Corned Beef Cream Cheese Dip, a Veggie Pizza, and an old recipe that I found in my recipe box for Indoor S'Mores.  Very easy to whip up, all these things, but everyone seems to like each one.  Oldest will bring her infamous taco dip that everyone scarfs down the minute she brings it out.  Then we'll order pizza for our supper somewhere down the line today.  All of our Mom 'N Pop specialty pizza places are closed today so I'm guessing it will have to be Papa Johns or something.  That's ok.  My mom always used to say that what makes food taste good is the company you're eating with.  How true.

I hope all of you have a wonderful day.  Regardless of whether you're having company or not... whether your kids called & wanted to come or are doing their own thing... whether you're going to be busy as heck or alone & feeling a bit forgotten.  Do something YOU want to do today and treat yourself special, whether in a group or a party of one.

And to all our veterans and active service members.... thank you with all my heart.

Love, Andrea xoxo

  2. Happy 4th! Our daughter and SIL were supposed to come over, but my husband has a "man cold" and is feeling kind of crummy. So, we're trying again tomorrow. :)

    1. That sounds absolutely perfect, Connie. You & your husband have good excuses for being in bed at 8:30pm, that's for sure. One is taking chemo & the other is recovering from major surgery. I bet your bed felt good to both of you at 8:30pm. xoxo

  6. It's always fun to gather with family no matter what the occasion. We did not get together with anyone. Shauna usually celebrates with all the neighbors in her subdivision and I had to work anyway! So Happy 249th Birthday, America! I'm glad you got to celebrate with family! XO
