Today is supposed to be the last scorching day for awhile. High of 90*F today, with ridiculous humidity, but then high of 72*F tomorrow, with rain. It will feel like heaven! Then it's supposed to be relatively moderate until next Tuesday, when temps are back to 90*F.
This has been a very hot summer, for sure.

I'm reading a good book called "The Wife Before" by Shanora Williams. It's about a woman named Samira Wilder who's pretty down on her luck until she meets a famous pro-golfer who sweeps her off her feet. The only problem is...rumor has it that the pro-golfer killed his first wife. Despite warnings from her brother & others, she continues with the relationship and...well...the plot thickens. I'm about a third through with the book but I can highly recommend it even at this point.
I think I'll start another one of my monthly rug hooking kits today, from Deanne Fitzpatrick. I really wanted to start the Christmas present I have in mind for my oldest daughter...a scrapbook of her & her family's trip to Europe last summer....as it's going to take awhile to do. I asked her for 100 of their favorite photos (they were there for four weeks) a couple months ago but alas, no pictures have materialized yet (initially I wanted her to put them on a flash drive for me & when that wasn't happening, I thought that maybe she could just upload them to my Walgreens photo account). I've been keeping my art table empty, in preparation for setting everything up to get busy with the scrapbook, but my hands have been idle for way too long. The monthly rug hooking kits take less than a week to do so one kit is a fairly quick project.
Try to stay cool, one & all. I'm heading out to water & feed my wildlife and then it's inside the house for the rest of the day. No venturing out for me.
Love, hugs & prayers, Andrea xoxo
Your book sounds good. We like watching the true murder mysteries on T.V. Rug hooking! I bought some really tiny kits of little hangings to try out for beginners. Haven't tried it yet.
ReplyDeleteWe like true murder mysteries on T.V. too, Ginny. I hope you give your rug hooking kits a try one day. I'm guessing they're the "latch hook" type kits. Those are the ones traditionally sold in stores. xoxo
DeleteBack in the mid 70's I made my fair share of hook rugs!! :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great gift idea for your daughter.
You would love our summer temperatures!!
Yes, I *know* I would love your summers, HappyK. For sure!!! Did you do the "latch hook" type rugs back in the mid 70's? Those were the ones most commonly sold. xoxo
DeleteThanks for the book review. I love a good mystery. I've never done a rug hooking project before. Is it hard to learn? I look forward to some cooler temperatures. I went out today and it was between 89 and 91 degrees. Too hot for me to stay outside for two long. Not sure what our temperatures are going to be like tomorrow. Have a good one whatever it is Andrea and sending you the best of the best of everything :)
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Denise...and thank you for the best wishes! xoxo No, rug hooking is absolutely not hard to do in the least. You learn in about 10 minutes! Of course, your proficiency improves the more you do it but...to learn how to do it is very easy. Try to stay cool too as it sounds like it's blazing where you are also. xoxo
DeleteThat book sounds like a real page turner. I haven't read anything in quite a while.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to the too idle thing. I talked myself into pulling out a diamond painting kit that I bought a couple years ago and never got very far with. I'm tired of sitting in front of the tv.
I will definitely be checking out that book! I hope you get the pictures soon! That is going to be a great gift!
