Good morning dear friends,
Yesterday was a motorcycle kinda day. Warm with intermittent sun but not too hot. We left a bit past noon & hit up a bar first thing that we know is struggling. I don't know how much longer they're going to be able to hang on but we try to patronize them whenever we're out riding. Three older men were sitting at the bar, one with his huge & beautiful German Shepherd dog laying quietly beside him, on the floor. But that was it. We had a quick lite beer (I don't think either one of us finished) and then were on our way again.
Next we went to another bar but very successful & has been for years. Delicious food, pool tables, the bar stools are usually full of people, etc. We had another lite beer & played several games of pool (I lost every game....my husband is very good). We stayed a couple hours, I'm guessing, before paying our tab ($6 total for one bottle of beer each *smile*) and taking off.
The last stop was another biker bar.... a little "hole in the wall" that's been around for generations. It's one of those places that a whole lot of people call home. No air-conditioning, jukebox is always going, there's always guys lined up to play pool no matter the day or time, and the bartender/waitress usually subs as the cook too. They're open on all the major holidays, especially Thanksgiving & Christmas, cos they know that many regulars don't have any place else to go. They have potlucks on those days, which is probably against some sort of health rule or code, and the bar chips in most of the food. None of the regulars can say they went without Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner.
They have daily specials so hubby & I decided to eat dinner. Monday's special was a chicken salad sandwich (it was loaded with chicken salad!) on white, wheat or rye...toasted or untoasted....with a big pile of fresh french fries & a pickle spear....for $5.50. It was delicious. I could only eat half my sandwich so hubby had the other half, but I ate every last one of my fries & my pickle. Such a treat as this type of food isn't my usual fare. Yum!
Hubby played more games of pool, with guys who were always ready. I think we were there a couple hours before finally deciding it was time to head home. All in all, it was a wonderful day.

My little kitty Goldie is heading to the vet tomorrow morning, as I think she might have an infection in her mouth from her oral surgery. I don't know why they didn't give her antibiotics during the 5 days she was at the cat clinic but they didn't....so here we are. She's not eating or drinking very much and her sweet little nose feels warmish. I'm sure she has an infection in her mouth, poor baby. Tomorrow will tell the tale.
The grandgirls (16 & 14) are coming this Thursday for a long weekend, for the last hurrah of summer. The weekend will culminate in a family picnic on Sunday with snacks, pizza, & table games. Where did this summer go?!?!
Have a wonderful Tuesday, everybody.
Much love, Andrea xoxo
Hi Andrea, bless Goldie's heart. Chicken salad sandwich...oh, yes, please. So glad 😊 you had a good day. Love ❤️ the motorcycle graphic.
ReplyDeleteYes, I don't understand either why they did not give her antibiotics. Seems it is the usual practice after most surgeries. You are definitely the coolest biker chick I know!!! Let me know what the vet says!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had such a fun day. The little hole in the wall place sounds like a good one. Those places the locals know about are usually the best. :)
ReplyDeleteHope all is well with the kitty!
