Good morning friends....
Well, it seems the plot thickens!
The surrounding school systems came together yesterday and loaned our town's school system some buses so at least some of the children could go to school today.
The decision was made to have the elementary school children picked up by bus because of possible childcare issues if that grouping of kids stayed home another day. The middle school & high school students had another e-learning day today at home. There just wasn't enough buses to pick everybody up.
We live in an impoverished school system, with many of the children living at or below poverty level. All breakfasts & lunches are free and they provide a summer lunch program also, where certain designated schools are considered pick-up schools....which means parents or significant others, to the children, can drive by in their cars at a certain time and pick-up sack lunches for their students.
At one point the school system was considering sending home sack lunches with the students, at the end of the school day, for their supper. That program never materialized but it wasn't taken off the table as a future possibility.
The food service personnel at the middle schools & high school went in to work last evening, to make brown bag lunches to hand out today. This is a big undertaking and something not planned for, as hot lunches can't simply be put into a bag. Brown bag lunches are a totally different thing and couldn't be thrown together when the food service workers reported for work this morning.
Youngest daughter left for work at 6:30am this morning. Even though her elementary school is open, there was a lot of catch-up to do as well as trying to help the other schools as much as was possible from where she is.
A total of 25 catalytic converters were stolen. More have been ordered and are set to be installed today but how many they can install in one day is anybody's guess. Only one person is seen on surveillance cameras as having done this (in the pouring rain) but they're not sure if more people were outside. of the camera shots, helping. The ripple effect of this evil is having profound effects that go beyond the school buses being disabled.
Now, youngest texted me this morning and said....
The next town over (about 12 miles from us here) had some of their school buses' converters stolen last night! The same school system that loaned us some buses to transport elementary students this morning.
In addition, word is going around that converters were stolen out of school buses in South Bend last night also.
There's buzz going around YouTube, from creators I watch & really admire (homesteaders, spiritual folks, frugality folks and others), that "something" is coming...something is in the wind....and it's not good. Those who are perceptive can feel it in their bones. They're not sure what it is but that it's coming.
The amount of evil that's everywhere totally boggles the mind, not only in the United States but across the globe. It's been knocking on the door of our little town for several years and seems to be at a fever pitch now. The something is getting closer.
Stay happy, stay positive, do things that bring you joy.... but at the same time keep things well with your soul, store up some provisions slow but sure, tighten your budget, tighten the security around your homestead, and be vigilant.... while staying joyful. :-)
Much love, Andrea xoxo

There is so much going on everywhere 😫 Amen...stay calm, have courage and watch for signs. 🫂 🤗

DeleteSo terrible the things going on in the world right now. Having catalytic converters stolen is a problem everywhere. I partially blame the scrap yards. If they didn't pay so much for them they would not be worth stealing!
ReplyDeleteYa know, I never thought about that, Jeanette. If the scrap yards just wouldn't take catalytic converters, this would end. How very very true! WOW!! xoxo
DeleteI read about this on the news...absolutely terrible that people would do this. So sorry for these school districts and for the kiddos.
ReplyDeleteThank you Shug! xoxo
DeleteThat's just awful that they would do that. I hope they catch the people resposible
ReplyDeleteThank you Ann. Yes, I hope they catch the people too but so far, nothing. xoxo
DeleteOh MY! This all sounds like the beginning of a Stephen King novel! Stay safe my friend.
ReplyDeleteYes, doesn't it though, Ginny? Stephen King indeed!!!! xoxo
DeleteThis is so sad and maddening too. Yes, it has more effects that just not getting kids to school.
ReplyDeleteYes Mari. xoxo
DeleteIt is mind boggling. It affects so many people. I was telling my husband about this and he said those are really expensive. I like watching YouTube shows where people live off the grid. It is very interesting to see how they can live on very little and are great role models. Very impressive! You stay safe too my dear friend :)

DeleteHope they catch them and hang them in the streets:)
ReplyDelete*haha* Well, I'm not hoping for quite that severe of punishment...but I do hope they get caught & go through the justice system. Having to make financial restitution would be very satisfying too. xoxo
DeleteIt's a crazy and scary world.
ReplyDeleteYes it surely is, HappyK. xoxo
